Medical Aid Plans

Bestmed provides cover for approximately 197 000 lives and offers a choice of 13 plan options. Premiums for a single member range from R1 710 to R8 642 and Pace 1 is the most popular option. The Beat Network range uses a network of hospitals which helps reduce premiums. Preventative care benefits are offered on all plan options. Annual contribution increases will be effective from 1st January 2023.

Pace 4 is suited for individuals and families requiring extensive medical cover. It offers unlimited hospital cover at a hospital of choice, with in-hospital specialist bills paid at 100%. Day to day claims are subject to savings and then from defined annual limits.

Pace 3

Pace 3 is suited for individuals and families requiring additional medical cover. It offers unlimited hospital cover at a hospital of choice, with in-hospital specialist bills paid at 100%. Day to day claims are subject to savings and then from defined annual limits.

Pace 2

Pace 2 is suitable for young individuals families. It offers unlimited hospital cover at a hospital of choice, with in-hospital specialist bills paid at 100%. Day to day claims are payable from savings with some additional benefits available once savings have been exhausted. Optometry benefits are paid from risk.

Pace 1

The benefit design for Pulse 2 has changed and is currently awaiting approval by the Council of Medical Schemes.

Pulse 1

Pulse 1 is suitable for individuals who are willing to use network providers for ALL healthcare services. A short list of in-hospital exclusions applies to this option. Joint replacements are only covered in the case of acute injury (Prescribed Minimum Benefits only). All treatments are subject to provider network protocols.

Beat 4 is suitable for young families and individuals. It offers unlimited hospital cover at a hospital of choice with in-hospital specialist bills paid at 100%. Joint replacements are only covered in the case of acute injury (Prescribed Minimum Benefits only). Day to day claims paid from savings and thereafter from scheme risk. Optometry benefits are paid from risk.

Bestmed's Wellness Programme is designed to assist members in improving their health and well-being. The programme identifies possible risk factors, screening helps measure these risks and feedback is provided to assist members in improving their wellness and energy levels and therefore optimizing their health.
