Hippo POD Competition Rules

Hippo Pod and #MyHippo Toy Campaign Competition Rules

Eligibility:

  • This Competition is open only to those who sign up to the Hippo Pod rewards programme via www.hippo.co.za and who are 18 years of age or older as of the date of entry.
  • The Competition is only open to legal residents of South Africa and is void where prohibited by law.
  • Employees of Hippo Comparative Services (Pty) Ltd (Hippo)(Hippo.co.za), its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and suppliers, (collectively the “Employees”), and immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of Employees are not eligible to participate in the Campaign.
  • The Campaign is subject to all applicable South African laws and regulations.

 

Agreement to Rules:

  • By participating, the Entrants (“You”) agrees to be fully and unconditionally bound by these Rules, and You represent and warrant that You meet the eligibility requirements.
  • In addition, You agree to accept the decisions of Hippo.co.za as final and binding as it relates to the content of this Competition.

 

Competition Period:

  • The Competition will commence on the 1 March 2021.

 

How to Enter:

  • The Competition is entered by joining the Hippo Pod rewards programme on the Hippo.co.za website.
  • The Hippo Pod rewards programme can be joined after utilising the Hippo.co.za platform and selecting a product on the website or after you have selected a product in the Hippo Comparative Services call centre.
  • Hippo.co.za will communicate to you on your preferred method of communication on how to join the Hippo Pod rewards programme.
  • Once you have joined the Hippo Pod rewards programme you will automatically be entered into the limited-edition hippo toy competition. The Hippo Pod rewards programme can also be accessed here.
  • The entry must fulfil all Competition requirements as specified to be eligible to win a prize.
  • Entries that are incomplete or do not adhere to the rules or specifications may be disqualified at the sole discretion of Hippo.co.za.
  • Only one (1) entry will be recorded per product selected provided that you have joined the Hippo Pod. You must provide the information requested to verify your selection of a product. If you select additional products for the duration of the campaign you may be eligible for one entry per additional product selected, provided you have joined the Hippo Pod.
  • You may not enter more times than indicated per product by using multiple email addresses, identities, or devices in an attempt to circumvent the rules.
  • If You use fraudulent methods or otherwise attempt to circumvent the rules, your submission may be removed from eligibility at the sole discretion of Hippo.co.za.

 

Prizes:

  • By entering you stand the chance to win: A limited-edition Hippo Toy
  • No cash or other prize substitution shall be permitted.
  • The prizes are non-transferable.
  • Any and all prize-related expenses incurred by You, including without limitation any and all taxes, shall be the sole responsibility of the Winner.
  • No substitution of prize or transfer/assignment of prize to others or request for the cash equivalent by Winner(s) is permitted.
  • Hippo may invite you to be present when the prize winners are determined or announced, and / or to participate in any of our marketing activities, to appear in person in the electronic media and/or the print media, and/or to endorse, promote or advertise any of our goods or services, for which no fee, royalty or other compensation will be payable. You may decline such an invitation.

 

Odds:

  • A maximum of 1 entry can be achieved by joining the Hippo Pod after selecting a product on hippo.co.za.
  • An additional entry will be given per additional product selected, provided you remain a member of the Hippo Pod for the duration of the campaign.
  • The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible and/or correct entries received.

 

Winner Selection and Notification:

  • Winners will be selected by a random draw under the supervision of Hippo.co.za.
  • Winners will be notified by email within five days following selection of Winners.
  • Hippo.co.za shall have no liability for Winner’s failure to receive notices due to spam, junk e-mail or other security settings or for Winner’s provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information.
  • If a Winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible or, fails to claim the prize within one week from the time the award notification was sent, the prize may be forfeited, and an alternate Winner selected.
  • Receipt by the Winner of the prize offered in this Competition is conditioned upon compliance with any and all South African laws and taxes.
  • Any violation of these official rules by the winner (at Hippo.co.za's sole discretion) will result in the Winner’s disqualification as a Winner of the competition, and all privileges as Winner will be immediately terminated.

 

Rights of Hippo:

  • Hippo.co.za reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition should a virus, bug, non-authorised human intervention, fraud, or other cause beyond Hippo.co.za’s control, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Competition.
  • In such case, Hippo.co.za may select the Winner from all eligible entries received prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action taken by Hippo.co.za. Hippo.co.za reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Competition or website or violates these Terms & Conditions.
  • Hippo.co.za has the right, in its sole discretion, to maintain the integrity of the Competition, to void votes for any reason, including, but not limited to: multiple entries from the same user from different IP addresses; multiple entries from the same computer in excess of that allowed by Competition rules; or the use of bots, macros, scripts, or other technical means for entering.
  • Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Competition may be a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, Hippo.co.za reserves the right to seek damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.
  • Hippo.co.za may require you to provide us with such additional information and documentation as we may reasonably require in order to process, confirm and facilitate your acceptance and/or use of a prize. If you refuse to provide us with the requested information or documentation, you will forfeit the prize.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure that your entry is received by Hippo.co.za prior to the closure of the competition. Any entries which are not received by Hippo.co.za prior to the closure of the competition will not be eligible to participate, regardless of the reason for the late entry. Hippo.co.za and its affiliates are not responsible for any entries which are not received by Hippo.co.za, whether timeously or at all, regardless of the cause thereof. Without limitation, Hippo.co.za and its affiliates are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer hardware or software failure or malfunction, traffic congestion (whether physical, or on the Internet, telephone lines or at any service provider, web site or other device or medium), or any combination thereof, or any other technical or other problems.
  • Hippo.co.za and its affiliates are not responsible for any injury or damage to your or any other person’s computer, mobile telephone or other device used by you to enter into or obtain any materials related to the competition.
  • Hippo.co.za does not make any representations or give any warranties, whether expressly or implicitly, as to a prize, and in particular, but without limitation, make no representations and give no warranty that –
    • your entry or participation in the competition will necessarily result in you winning a prize; or
    • a prize, or any aspect thereof, will meet your, requirements, preferences, standards or expectations.
  • By entering this competition, contestants agree to receive marketing and/or promotional material from Hippo.co.za and/or any of their associated or affiliated companies.

 

Limitation of Liability:

  • By entering, You agree to release and hold harmless Hippo.co.za and its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers, and directors from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim, or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from:
    • such entrant’s participation in the Competition and/or his/her acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize or any portion thereof;
    • technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunction of any computer, cable, network, hardware, or software, or other mechanical equipment;
    • the unavailability or inaccessibility of any transmissions, telephone, or Internet service;
    • unauthorised human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Competition;
    • electronic or human error in the administration of the Competition or the processing of entries.

 

Disputes:

  • This Competition is governed by the laws of South Africa.
  • As a condition of participating in this Competition, participants agree that any and all disputes that cannot be resolved between the parties, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Competition shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action exclusively before a court located in Gauteng having jurisdiction.
  • Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances shall the participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorney’s fees, other than participant’s actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e. costs associated with entering this Competition).
  • The participant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.
