Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMB)

Understanding your basic rights is essential. Learn about prescribed minimum benefits and which chronic conditions every registered medical aid must cover by law.

Under PMB coverage:

• Full cover is provided for approved medications, subject to the use of the scheme’s approved medication list and designated service providers (DSPs).
• No co-payments apply when using DSPs. If medication not on the approved list is used, it will be covered up to the Chronic Drug Amount, and a co-payment may apply.
• No annual limits on PMB conditions.
• Pre-authorisation and registration are required before receiving PMB benefits.
