How to book flights with Hippo
  • Enter your departure city, arrival destination, and travel dates and search.
  • Select the flight option most suited to your schedule and budget.
  • Insert the correct passenger details according to passport / ID book.
  • Opt to purchase rebookable flights, baggage or travel insurance.
  • Select your preferred payment method.
  • Once payment is received, you will receive booking confirmation via email.
Make sure to book flights early
Flight prices tend to increase one to two weeks before departure, so time is of the essence. During holiday and peak seasons, it is advisable to book your airfares six weeks in advance to avoid any unnecessary cost. When booking international flights, to avoid disappointment, it’s best to book flights even earlier, up to 6 months in advance. Airlines also lower the flight prices during months where destinations see a lower volume of visitors.
How do I know that my booking is confirmed?
You will receive a booking confirmation after you have successfully made a booking. Once your payment has been successfully completed you will receive an E-ticket. Your E-ticket is a final confirmation of your Booking.
What is the difference between a direct flight, a non-stop flight and a flight with a connection?
Nonstop flight gets you to where with no stops along the way. Direct flights, despite the name, will also take you to your destination, but may a stop elsewhere in between without you having to leave the airplane. A flight with a connection means you will need to leave the airplane to get onto another airplane until you get to your destination
Do I have enough connection time between my flights?
Any connections offered by travelstart, are guaranteed by the airline that you are being offered enough time to connect from one flight to another. Distances between gates differ vastly from airport to airport. It is your responsibility to arrive at the gates on time. But wait what if you booked two or more separate tickets? Then the airline will not guarantee that the connection times are sufficient, or that you will be taken care off in the case of the delay.
How do I add additional baggage to my booking?
To increase your baggage allowance, you can do this directly on the airline's website by using your check-in/airline reference displayed on your e-ticket.
Where can I put in my frequent flyer number?
To add your frequent flyer number to your booking, please send through an email with your booking reference to info@travelstart.com. You can also add your Frequent Flyer number directly on the website.
