Amenity
A useful or desirable feature of a place.

Concierge
A person who makes entertainment bookings for guests.

Corporate Rates
A special rate charged to corporate clients.

En Suite Bathroom
An en suite bathroom is immediately next to a bedroom and forms a single unit with it. If you book Accommodation with an en suite bathroom, it refers to your private bathroom.

Family Rate
A special rate charged to families with children.

Group Rate               
A special or discounted rate offered to large groups of people booking Accommodation for a common reason.

Group Travellers
A group of people travelling together for business or pleasure in an organised fashion.

Guest History
Information concerning the guest's visits, including number of visits, special needs or any other important information.

Guest Supplies
Guest supplies are also referred to as guest amenities or personal toiletries and include items such as shampoo, soap, shower caps, etc.

Hospitality
The friendly and generous treatment of guests or strangers.

Hotel Representative
A hotel representative provides guests with the information or service they need to ensure that they have an enjoyable stay.

House Count
The number of guests booked into the hotel/lodge/guest house on a specific night.

Mini Bar
A small refrigerator usually filled with juices, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages and snacks.

Overbooking
Accepting reservations for more rooms than are available. Overbooking can also be a calculated risk taken by management forecasting the number of no-show reservations, understays, and walk ins, to attain 100% occupancy.

Package Rate
A package rate includes the room rate as well as additionalgoods and services, usually at a discounted rate.

Paid in Advance (PIA)
Guests who paid for their Accommodation prior to checking in.

Reservation
An arrangement in which a room is kept for the use of a particular person/s.

Room Blocking
A group of rooms put on hold for a group of people, usually at a negotiated rate, for an event like a wedding or family reunion.

Stayovers
Current guests who wish to stay longer than the original duration of their stay stipulated when making their reservation.

Traveller's Checks
A cheque for a fixed amount that may be cashed or used in payment abroad after endorsement by the holder's signature.

Understays
Guests who wish to leave earlier than the original departure date given when making their reservation.

Walk-In Guest
A guest who arrives without a reservation.
